Religion and Violence
Whether it’s killing abortion doctors in Florida, killing federal agents in Waco, bombing the World Trade Center, or the mutual killing of Hindus and Muslims in India, it all comes out the same: So many people seem to need organized religion to tell them who to hate. As a Jewish female, who also happens to be lesbian, I know all about the ignorance, chauvinism and hatred caused by organized religions.
Why is it that so many people think that their religion is so superior to everyone else’s and that their religion rightfully transgresses other people’s equal rights as human beings? I wish there was a religion that would stress education, equality, tolerance and independent thinking, rather than just telling people who to hate or subjugate.
