Share

The Homeowners of Encino will meet tonight at 7:30 at Sepulveda Garden Center at 16633 Magnolia Blvd. to discuss--and prepare for--possible unrest after the upcoming verdict in the second Rodney G. King beating trial.

“We just want people to be aware of situations that could occur in the Valley,” said Joe Dancygier, vice president of the association.

Dancygier said the purpose of tonight’s meeting is to recruit volunteers for a community policing program. Mark Kroeker, deputy chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, and other safety officials are scheduled to attend.

“I’ll be there to get people actively involved in community policing and to do my best to deal with the apprehension everyone has,” Kroeker said.

Members of the volunteer force will receive surveillance and communications training from police.
