‘TIS THE SEASON: Bad news for allergy sufferers. The drought’s over, so trees in Orange County are back to filling the air with enormous amounts of pollen (E1). . . . The worst offender is still relatively dormant, however. Olive trees in this region cause more allergy misery than any other tree, says Dr. Mark H. Ellis of Orange, adding: “Olive season is not fully upon us. It peaks around April, and it’s going to be very heavy this year.”

Potent Trees

These five trees last week produced the most pollen units per cubic meter of air in Orange County:
