DAVE WEAVER

Occupation: Engineering manager.

Personal: Married, 53, two college-age children.

Education: Glendale High; Glendale College; BS in civil engineering, USC, 1963.

Experience: President of the Glendale Homeowners Coordinating Council and Glenoaks Canyon Homeowners Assn., Weaver was a leader in the fight to adopt stiff regulations for hillside development. He also led a successful two-year campaign by homeowners to defeat a proposed housing development in Glenoaks Canyon, near Sleepy Hollow Place. A civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for more than 25 years, he has extensive experience in project and program management, including dealing with technical issues and budgets.

JOHN K. BEACH

Occupation: Semi-retired computer analyst.

Personal: Single, 47.

Education: Glendale High School, attended Glendale Community College.

Experience: Has racked up more than 200 hours in the past four years attending City Council and commission meetings. He has offered formulas to determine “fair share” billing for utility services and said he will not accept, nor has he received, campaign contributions. Finished last in the 1991 City Council election with 5.3% of the vote.

BOB YOUSEFIAN

Occupation: Small-business owner.

Personal: Single (divorced), 36, one son, age 4.

Education: Honors graduate, Hollywood High; attended Cal State L.A.

Experience: As a board member of the Northwest Glendale Homeowners Assn. and vice president of the Glendale Coordinating Council, Yousefian was active in the fight to halt the so-called mansionization of neighborhoods in which oversized houses were built on small lots. He said he is experienced in drafting city codes and regulations and, as a businessman, is skilled in dealing with budgets. Glendale resident for 15 years.

LINDA BENJAMIN

Occupation: Businesswoman.

Personal: Married, 43, one son, 15.

Education: Majored in psychology, Indiana University.

Experience: Was active in the PTA at Toll Junior High School and in the Ross Perot Presidential campaign. Previously managed a law office and an apartment building.

JOHN KRIKORIAN

Occupation: Publisher/

marketing consultant.

Personal: Married, 60, eight adult children.

Education: BS in business administration, Bryant College, R.I., 1952.

Experience: Former vice president of advertising for the Hartford Courant for 29 years. He and his family now publish Business Life Magazine, serving Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena. Endorsed by the Glendale City Employees Assn., Krikorian in 1992 was named Executive of the Year by the Glendale Business and Professional Women’s Assn. and has been honored for his achievements by the American Red Cross and Glendale Memorial Hospital.

STUART L. LOVI

Occupation: Financial services assistant manager.

Personal: Married, 26.

Education: BA in political science, UCLA.

Experience: A 17-year resident of south Glendale, Lovi attended local schools, including Cerritos Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High, Glendale High and Glendale College. He is the youngest candidate in the race and has reported less than $1,000 in contributions and expenditures on his campaign.

RICHARD N. MATTHEWS

Occupation: Civic volunteer/

businessman.

Personal: Married, 54, two adult daughters.

Education: BA in communication, University of Utah, 1963.

Experience: Since he retired two years ago as vice president of corporate communications for the Carnation Co., Mathews said he has plunged into community volunteer work. He serves on the local boards of the American Red Cross, Assn. for the Retarded and the YMCA. A Glendale resident for 24 years, Mathews unsuccessfully campaigned for office twice before, finishing third in a race for two seats on the council in 1991.

MARY ANN PLUMLEY

Occupation: Realtor.

Personal: Married, 62, four adult children.

Education: Not available.

Experience: Born in Los Angeles and raised in Eagle Rock, Plumley has lived in Glendale for 35 years. She is active in the Republican Party and serves in various organizations, including the Metropolitan Transit Authority, Chamber of Commerce, YMCA and Citizens for Law and Order. She finished fourth in the 1991 City Council election.

RICHARD M. (RICK) REYES

Occupation: Police officer/City Community Relations Coordinator.

Personal: Married, 55, four adult children.

Education: Graduate, Mt. Carmel High School; attended Glendale Community College and took specialized extension courses at Pasadena City College, UCLA and Cal State Los Angeles.

Experience: Now retired, Reyes has been a Glendale resident for 32 years. As a Glendale police officer, he helped develop the School Resource Officer program and served as an ombudsman between the community and city officials, including the mayor.

BOB TORRES

Occupation: Businessman.

Personal: Married, 38.

Education: Glendale High, Glendale College, studied marketing at Cal State Northridge.

Experience: Immediate past president of the Montrose Chamber of Commerce, currently chairman of the Montrose 80th Anniversary celebration and a 25-year resident of the community. He was defeated in his first council bid in 1991.

SHELDON S.BAKER

Occupation: Los Angeles attorney specializing in taxes and business planning.

Personal: Married, 56, three adult children.

Education: Rutgers University, 1958; law degree from Stanford University School of Law.

Experience: Served as trustee of the Glendale Unified School District from 1965 to 1981. A Glendale resident since 1945, he was president of the Verdugo Hills Council of Boy Scouts, is a charter member of the West Glendale Kiwanis Club and a member of the Glendale College Foundation.

DAVID E. WALLIS JR.

Occupation: Businessman/engineer.

Personal: Married, 56, three children.

Education: BS, Caltech, 1958; MS, University of Nebraska, 1963; Ph.D., USC, 1968.

Experience: A resident of Chevy Chase Canyon for 26 years, he is president of Sicomoro Canyon Inc., owner of the land on which the Chevy Chase Country Club is located.

GORDON I. YANZ

Occupation: Attorney.

Personal: Married, 59, 10 children.

Education: Glendale College; BS in accounting, Cal State L.A., 1958; law degree from UCLA, 1961.

Experience: Former prosecutor with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, Yanz is a managing partner of a law firm and active in the Glendale Bar Assn. He has lived in Glendale since 1966. Has served on the boards of the Salvation Army, Ribet Academy, Verdugo Mental Health Center and Glendale Memorial Hospital Foundation.

DEWITT JON CLINTON

Occupation: Businessman, actor.

Personal: Married, 36, four children ages 6 months to 12 years.

Education: Attended Roosevelt Junior High, Glendale; San Diego Military Academy; degree in mortuary science, California Mortuary College.

Experience: A lifetime resident of southern Glendale, Clinton is active in youth baseball and football in Eagle Rock and the San Gabriel Valley and is a board member of the Ribet Academy Parent Teacher Organization in Glassell Park.
