Once our longtime arch-enemy, the onetime Soviet Union now sits on the brink of chaos, and with it ride the effects on the U.S. and the rest of the free world. Too much? Too soon? The breakup of the “Union” into separate “republics”; the abolition of socialism toward democracy and a free market economy; the swift passage of leadership since the “Cold War Days.” Boris Yeltsin represents the future of Russia; his opponents want to return to communism. Like our recent election, the Russian people must choose between the “old” and the “new.” For them, far more is at stake.
