MOORPARK : Spring-Cleaning Help Offered by City

Share

Moorpark residents can get a head start on spring-cleaning by disposing of appliances, tires and yard waste at a city-sponsored cleanup day Saturday.

The drop-off site, at the northeast corner of Spring Road and Flinn Avenue, will be in operation from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“This is a real opportunity for the citizens of the city to dispose of non-hazardous materials at no cost, which is certainly an advantage over taking it to the dump,” Mayor Paul Lawrason said. “I will be down there myself, disposing of a few items.”

Trash from businesses and hazardous materials, including oil, paint and pesticides, will not be accepted. The city will only accept up to four tires and one appliance from residents discarding household waste.

Senior citizens and disabled residents can arrange for pickup assistance by calling City Hall at 529-6864 before Saturday. The city is also looking for volunteers to help with the event. For information or to volunteer, call Jill Rubin, city recycling coordinator, at 529-6864.
