Treasury Postpones Bill Sale: The Treasury Department postponed its weekly auction of $22.4 billion in 13-week and 26-week bills because Congress had not raised the federal debt limit. A Clinton Administration request to raise the debt limit to $4.37 trillion from the $4.145-trillion ceiling cleared the House but was still pending in the Senate, which was tied up with a Republican filibuster against the Administration’s jobs bill. The Treasury last week postponed an auction of $14.25 billion in 52-week bills.
