Data Deal: McGaw Inc. is considering a different sort of consolidation.
The Irvine-based supplier of intravenous solutions said Monday that it is hooking up with a Santa Ana computer company to consolidate its growing database into a single network that can be easily accessed. The company has already returned its used IBM mainframe.
The three-year deal was struck with Software Maintenance Specialists, which will provide a new mainframe for McGaw that will be connected to a network of personal computers.
The contract allows McGaw customers, such as hospitals and pharmacies, to input orders and other information directly into the company’s new mainframe, said Software Maintenance President Mike Winder.
