Hospital Acquisition: Community Psychiatric Centers in Laguna Hills on Monday announced that the company’s Transitional Hospitals Corp. subsidiary has completed its second acquisition, a 50-bed facility in Las Vegas. Comprehensive Care Corp. of St. Louis sold the facility for an undisclosed amount. Transitional Hospitals Corp. is putting together facilities for patients leaving the intensive care units of hospitals. The plan is to care for the patients more cheaply than at a general hospital, which has greater overhead. The Las Vegas facility, which is scheduled to open after renovations in late summer, is the fourth in the group. Last month, Transitional Hospitals Corp. made its first acquisition, a medical-surgical hospital in Tampa, Fla. Late last year, the company opened units in New Orleans and Arlington, Tex., within hospitals already owned by Community Psychiatric.
