Christians Must Be Tolerant

Share

As a Christian, I could not believe two women quoted in your March 11 article on Camarillo’s rejection of “sexual orientation” in its policies.

Clara Jean Davis does not speak for the Republican Party, nor does she speak for the good Americans who know that bigotry and discrimination are the evils of our society. Americans elected President Clinton because we believed in his human and civil rights platform. Clara has been fed the wrong information about family values. Statistics show that her “traditional family--man, woman, and two kids” is in the minority among the families of today. She and her kind only want the past to be the present, and that doesn’t work anymore.

Jeannie Crouch needs to go to the battered women’s center or talk to women who work for the Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She would learn the staggering statistics regarding rape and sexual abuse. It is heterosexual males who perpetrate over 95% of all reported rape and abuse of women and children, not gay men.

It’s time we Christian women stopped listening to those who speak with forked tongues, spewing their evil words, hoping to inspire hatred. I was taught that God is love; Jesus gave his life for us and never spoke evil of anyone. When did these so-called Christians forget?
