Four boys were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery after confronting a pizza delivery man and demanding his wares, Oxnard police said Wednesday.

The boys, one 15-year-old and three 16-year-olds, are accused of ordering $55 worth of food and drink from the Pizza Hut restaurant at 211 W. Gonzales Road about 1 p.m. Tuesday, then awaiting the delivery near the intersection of Palm Drive and C Street, police said.

Delivery man Charles Hoeflich was approached by bat- and pipe-wielding teen-agers demanding the pizzas, soft drinks and an unspecified amount of money that Hoeflich was carrying, police said.

The names of the suspects were not released because of their ages.

Oxnard police on patrol nearby noticed a commotion and saw the suspects jump over a fence, officials said. Witnesses told police that the boys had entered a nearby house, where the arrests were made. A 17-year-old Oxnard girl also was arrested on charges of accessory to robbery.

The boys, all of Oxnard, were booked into Juvenile Hall, a police spokesman said. The girl was cited and released to the custody of her parents.
