GETTING READY: The Huntington Beach Fire Department, called to Los Angeles during last year’s riots, will answer the call again if needed. But this time, its firefighters will be better protected. . . . The City Council unanimously voted this week to buy $30,000 in body armor for them since many in last year’s riots were shot at by snipers. . . . In a letter to the council, Fire Chief Michael Dolder noted one alternative: “Do not purchase personal body armor and do not respond to civil disturbances.”
