LONG BEACH : Woman Attacked, Stabbed While Walking Her Dog

A woman walking her dog in north Long Beach was attacked Thursday morning by a man who ordered her to disrobe, attempted to rape her and then stabbed her as she broke away and fled, police reported.

The Long Beach resident was walking her dog near Via Plata Street and the 710 Freeway shortly before 10 a.m. when a man wielding two knives accosted her, police said. The victim ran to a nearby construction site, where workers called police.

The woman, 41, was in fair condition at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. She was stabbed four times in the back and once in a thumb, according to a hospital spokesman.

Authorities are looking for a six-foot Anglo man who weighs about 175 pounds, has short brown hair and was wearing beige or tan jeans. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (310) 590-7260.
