EASTER: A sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m. Easter Sunday, followed by a light breakfast at Northridge United Methodist Church, 9650 Reseda Blvd. Worship services will be at 9 and 11 a.m.

* The Burbank-Toluca Lake First Church of Religious Science will hold a sunrise service at 6:15 a.m. Easter Sunday at the Crystal Springs area of Griffith Park. Breakfast will be served at the church, 260 N. Pass Ave., Burbank, from 8 to 11 a.m. Services will be offered at the church at 9:15 and 11 a.m.

* Inmates at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic will be offered an Easter Sunday sunrise service at 6 a.m.

* A garden service will be held by the First United Methodist Church of Glendale at 7 a.m. at Casa Adobe de San Rafael, 1330 Dorothy Drive, Glendale. Services will follow at 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the church, 401 E. Broadway.

* An Easter sunrise service will be held at 7:45 a.m. Sunday at the Northridge Community Church of the Nazarene, 10650 Reseda Blvd. A cantata and worship service will be at 11 a.m.

* Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. Easter Sunday at the Panorama Presbyterian Church, 14201 Roscoe Blvd., Panorama City. Cost is $6 per family. Services will follow at 9 and 10:30 a.m.

* A potluck breakfast is planned for 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday at the First Lutheran Church, 1300 E. Colorado St., Glendale. Services will be at 8 and 11 a.m.

* Trumpet players will join the Chancel Choir in performing “Vivaldi Concerto for Two Trumpets” at the 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday worship service at the First Presbyterian Church of North Hollywood, 5000 Colfax Ave. An Easter sunrise service drama, performed by youths and adults, will be presented at 7 a.m.

* Easter Sunday will also be International Sunday at Community Bible Church, 14339 Hamlin St., Van Nuys. Anglos, Latinos, Filipinos and Jews will meet at the 11 a.m. service and a combined choir will present “Beyond the Cross,” written by Joe E. Parks and directed by Rob Carwardine.

* The Lancaster Seventh-day Adventist Church, 43824 N. 30th St. West, will present a dramatic program titled “LX Minutes” at 11 a.m. Easter Sunday. The program features a modern-day reporter going back in time to interview those who were present at the death and Resurrection of Christ.

COMPETITION: Three local winners of the World Zionist Organizations Bible Contest will leave for Israel on Wednesday to compete in the international contest. Keren Engelberg, Rachel Greenstadt and Bethany Weinstein all won at the regional level in February, 1992, and went to New York last May to participate in the national competition. Congregation Beth Kodesh in West Hills has represented Los Angeles at the national level for 25 years and its cantor, Avrum Schwartz, has trained 49 regional winners and 10 national champions. The teen-agers will compete in Jerusalem on April 26, which is Israel Independence Day.

DIALOGUE: The Valley Interfaith Council will sponsor a series of interfaith dialogues in which participants can express their beliefs, learn about others and share ideas for healing Los Angeles. The Rev. Robert McDill will lead an orientation meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Encino, 4963 Balboa Blvd. Subsequent meetings will be held at a private residence on April 21 and 28 and May 5, 12 and 19. Those interested can call the Valley Interfaith Council at (818) 718-6460 for the address. The meetings are open to people of all faiths.

SHABBAT DINNER: A stress-free Shabbat dinner for busy professionals will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Adat Ari El, 12020 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood. In addition to a catered diner, there will be singing and Israeli dancing. Cost is $10 per person. Reservations, due by Tuesday, can be made by calling the synagogue at (818) 766-9426.

GUEST SPEAKER: Marlene Adler Marks, managing editor of the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, will speak on “The Jew in New L.A,” at the 8:15 p.m. Friday services held by Shir Chadash, The New Reform Congregation. Services are held at the Woodland Hills Community Church, 21338 Dumetz Road, Woodland Hills.

“EXPERIENCING GOD”: Rabbi David Wolpe, author, lecturer and faculty member at the University of Judaism, will speak on “Experiencing God Through Celebration” at the 8 p.m. Friday service at Temple Ramat Zion, 17655 Devonshire St., Northridge. A dinner will be offered at 6 p.m. Friday. Cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Reservations can be made by calling the synagogue at (818) 360-1881.

Wolpe will also speak at 9 a.m. April 17 on “God as the Healer of Shattered Hearts,” and at 4 p.m. on “Talking to Our Children (and Grandchildren) about God.” Child care will be provided for the 4 p.m. lecture.

EVANGELISM CONFERENCE: The La Crescenta Presbyterian Church will host a conference on evangelism led by Gary Demarest, former pastor of the La Canada Presbyterian Church and currently director of evangelism for the Presbyterian Church (USA). The conference runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and continues from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 17. Demarest will also preach at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services April 18. Registration for the event is $10, which includes lunch and materials. Child care will be provided. Reservations, due by Wednesday, can be made by calling (818) 249-6137.

REVIVAL: A three-day revival meeting will begin Friday at Vallejo Drive Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 Vallejo Drive, Glendale. Elder Garrie Williams, a noted speaker on prayer and the Holy Spirit, will be the featured speaker. Friday’s meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., April 17 meetings will be at 3 and 5 p.m. and the April 18 meeting will be at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

WORKSHOP: A workshop titled “Letting Go of the Past” will be offered at 2:30 p.m. April 17 at Sylmar Seventh-day Adventist Church, 13456 Glenoaks Blvd. The workshop will be led by Yvonne B. Washington, a counselor and educator, who received a master’s degree in counseling from Cal State Fullerton. A freewill offering will be taken.
