The Region : Volunteers to Repair Homes

Volunteers in Monterey Park and Pasadena will join a national community service program, Christmas in April, in which the homes of selected low-income, disabled and elderly people will be rehabilitated on April 24.
Improvements will include yard cleanup, painting, installation of locks and smoke detectors, and major electrical and plumbing jobs.
In Monterey Park, several homes within a three- to five-block radius of City Hall are scheduled for repair, starting at 7:30 a.m. Information: (818) 307-1385.
In Pasadena, volunteers will restore and repair a local junior high school and about 10 houses in northwest Pasadena, starting at 7:30 a.m. Information: (213) 464-4940.
