WESTLAKE VILLAGE : Medical Center to Offer Health Fair

Share

Think you have allergies? Worried about glaucoma? Curious about how much body fat you’re carrying?

Westlake Medical Center will answer those questions and others at its annual Health Fair Expo scheduled for 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the hospital.

The Health Fair offers free screening for a variety of ailments, from dental problems to osteoporosis to speech problems. Women will learn how to conduct self-exams for breast cancer, and any resident can get accurate measurements of height, weight and blood pressure.

In addition to the free screenings, health professionals also will do a complete blood chemistry profile--which checks for diabetes, anemia, heart disease and cholesterol levels--for $20. Those interested in the blood test must fast for at least eight hours beforehand.

Exhibits on topics such as nutrition, infertility, cosmetic surgery and menopause are planned.

The Expo is also sponsored by KNBC Channel 4, Chevron USA, Blue Cross of California, the Hospital Council of Southern California, Sav-On Drugs and the American Red Cross.
