Downey : Water Experts to Discuss Conservation, Pollution

A panel of representatives from Southern California water agencies will meet Saturday in Downey to discuss conserving the region’s water supply and making it free of pollution.

The four-member panel will meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon at East Middle School, 10301 Woodruff Ave.

Panelists will include administrators from the agencies that control much of the region’s water supplies: Dirk Marks of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Bill Ralph of the Central and West Basin Municipal Water Districts, Jefferey Helsley of the Water Replenishment District of Southern California, and Jim Goodrich of the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority.

Among other topics they will discuss are ground-water pollution, reclaiming water from treated waste, water-saving programs and the rising cost of water.

The League of Women Voters of Downey is sponsoring the forum.
