LOS ANGELES : Airport Urged to Favor Local Bids for Concession

Share

The Los Angeles City Council called on the Department of Airports Wednesday to give priority to local businesses in a $250-million food and beverage concession contract that is due to expire next month.

The council unanimously approved a motion by Councilman Hal Bernson that urges the Board of Airport Commissioners to favor bids that include Los Angeles-area businesses.

Bernson said he hopes to stimulate the economy by creating “the greatest possible opportunities for local and small business people to be part of the process here in Los Angeles.”

The council earlier this month voted to require bidders to include a larger number of disadvantaged firms in their bid packages for the world’s largest airport concession contract.
