Hawa in England for Soccer Tryout

Thousand Oaks High soccer player Raja Hawa is in England trying out for two professional teams.

Hawa, an All-Marmonte League selection, is practicing with Wimbledon, a Premier League team in the English League. Hawa, 18, worked out last week with Swindon, a Division One team.

Martin Desmond, Hawa’s private coach who arranged the tryouts, said that Hawa’s trial week with Swindon went well and that Hawa will play in Wimbledon’s reserve team league match Thursday.

“By the end of the week, we’ll have some idea whether either club is interested in signing him,” Desmond said.

The Premier League is composed of the English League’s top 22 teams. The top three Division One teams replace the Premier League’s three worst teams each year.
