A Koon Affair: As promised, convicted Los Angeles Police Sgt. Stacey C. Koon spoke exclusively to “A Current Affair” after the verdict in the Rodney G. King civil rights case was announced, and the interview airs tonight on KTTV Channel 11 at 7:30 p.m. Koon talked to “A Current Affair’s” Steve Dunleavy in a hotel room in Valencia soon after he was found guilty Saturday. Dunleavy said that for the most part Koon was “cool” but that at times he let down his guard: “He relived in graphic detail how his nightmarish ordeal of the past two years had rendered him bankrupt financially, emotionally and physically,” Dunleavy said. “He spoke with great emotion about his wife and five kids.” During the interview, Dunleavy said Koon led him through the King beating videotape step by step. Koon also talked about Theodore J. Briseno, the acquitted officer who testified against him, and his feelings about the prospect of going to jail. Koon was paid an undisclosed amount for giving his story to the tabloid show.
