Cantinflas Tribute: Thousands of mourners gathered outside a funeral home in Mexico City Wednesday to pay tribute to the nation’s most famous and best-loved comic actor, Mario Moreno, better known as Cantinflas, who died Tuesday of lung cancer at the age of 81. Mexican television and radio stations were filled with tributes, broadcasts of his movies from the ‘40s and retrospectives. President Carlos Salinas de Gortari, who was to attend a tribute at the capital’s Palace of Fine Arts, told reporters: “He’s gone, but he’ll always be with us. He’s already a Mexican legend that we will keep alive forever.”
