AT&T; Hangs Up on Dangerfield

BOSTON — It’s true, as he has told us so many times, that Rodney Dangerfield gets no respect.
American Telephone & Telegraph Co. proved it again by canning the comedian.
Dangerfield’s demise as a celebrity spokesman after only a brief stint was revealed at the company’s annual meeting here.
AT&T; Chairman and Chief Executive Robert E. Allen said commercials featuring Dangerfield have been discontinued, effective this week.
Dangerfield, who has made the phrase “I get no respect” the tag line for many of his jokes, wasn’t laughing.
“That’s news to me. I thought they were happy with them,” he said in Los Angeles.
