Concerns Over Health Care Plan

Re “Access Is Vital in Health-Care Reform” by Adela de la Torre, Commentary, March 31:

I hope that the content in Adela de la Torre’s article becomes boldly imprinted in the minds of President Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Vice President Al Gore and the majority of national legislators.

From the beginning of the process toward health care reform, my concern and that of Chicano Latino health experts has been that in a “push comes to shove” situation in which compromises become stark realities, the new health care plan may not allow for flexibility and special outreach to meet the unique needs of the Latino population, which now numbers 25 million and will double in the next 20 years.
