BUENA PARK : New Sign Plan Being Sought for Center

Share

A bank official told the City Council on Monday night that more signs are needed to attract customers into the Bank of America branch at the shopping center at Lincoln and Knott avenues.

“We need street identification,” said Rob Vermann, senior project coordinator for the bank, adding that the bank is “very concerned that customers can’t find us.”

Because the stores are 500 feet to 600 feet from the street and other tenants are hidden from street view, the center’s owner asked the council to approve the addition of a third, 30-foot pylon, or free-standing sign.

Jerry Dicker, president of GVD Investments, which owns the Lincoln Park Center, said additional signage on Knott Avenue is needed to help draw customers into the remodeled center. The center already has two pylon signs on Knott and Lincoln avenues.

Dicker made his appeal before the council after the Planning Commission denied his request.

Rick Warsinski, assistant director of development services, said another sign would add clutter, block visibility into the center and exceed the city’s code.

Council members voted to allow Dicker to withdraw his appeal and come up with a new sign plan for consideration by the Planning Commission.
