3,000 Will Run to Benefit Orangewood

More than 3,000 runners of all ages are expected to take to the streets Sunday for the eighth annual ‘Round Orange Race sponsored by the Orangewood Children’s Foundation.

Adults may participate in either a 5-K or 10-K race. Both begin at 7:30 a.m. in front of Toyota of Orange. The 10-K race will be led off by astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Orangewood spokeswoman Diana Lindersmith said.

A Kids One Mile Fun Run will start at 8:45 a.m. at Peralta Junior High School, Meats Avenue and Canal Street.

The foundation hopes to take in at least $25,000 from the event. All proceeds will go to benefit the abused and neglected children served by Orangewood.

Early registration will take place Thursday and Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mall of Orange, at Tustin and Meats avenues.

Same-day registration will begin at 6 a.m. in front of Peralta High School.

The entry fee is $18 for the 5-K and 10-K races and $10 for the children’s run. For further information, call (714) 385-8110.
