SYLMAR : Woman Shoots Man to Death at Bar

Police were searching for two women who fled a Sylmar bar, after one of the women shot and killed a man.

Detective Mike Oppelt of the Los Angeles Police Department said a verbal and physical argument erupted between the two women about 7:15 p.m., in the parking lot of the Rancho Cafe at 12953 San Fernando Road. The victim, Gabino Gonzalez, 27, of Sylmar, approached the women and apparently tried to stop the fight, Oppelt said.

The women left the parking lot, but about 10 minutes later one of them walked into the doorway of the bar and shot Gonzalez in the upper torso, Detective Jim Boissier said.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses saw the women flee in a blue Nissan or Toyota four-door car, police said.

Boissier said it did not appear that Gonzalez knew his assailant before the slaying. Gonzales is survived by a wife and two children, Oppelt said.
