SCENE OF THE CRIME : Superman’s Dead, but . . .

Share

When a man was stabbed in front of a crowded West Hollywood bar one Friday night, four men took after the suspected perpetrators, chasing them for 15 minutes. “We Maced two of them,” says Don Fass, 48, “we pinned the other one up against a wall, and kept them from escaping until a sheriff’s deputy arrived.”

It wasn’t simply a case of well-timed vigilantism. Fass is the founder of Street Cats, an eight-person patrol that, with the approval of local authorities, prowls parts of Hollywood and West Hollywood.

And to think it all started in New York.
