BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Dibble Has Surgery on Broken Arm
Reliever Rob Dibble of the Cincinnati Reds underwent surgery on his broken left forearm. Dibble, who suffered the injury Wednesday, is expected to be sidelined for six weeks. . . . Brian Jordan, batting .152, was demoted by the St. Louis Cardinals to triple-A Louisville. The Cardinals called up infielder Stan Royer from Louisville. . . . Reliever John Candelaria of the Pittsburgh Pirates was put on the disabled list because of a strained rib cage muscle. . . . Outfielder Felix Jose left the Kansas City Royals to have his sore left shoulder examined. . . . The Minnesota Twins put shortstop Scott Leius on the 15-day disabled list because of an aggravated right rotator cuff and recalled left-handed pitcher George Tsamis from triple-A Portland.
