CHEERIO: “Cheers’ ” farewell on NBC is May 20, but tonight’s episode will be the last for South Coast Repertory actor Richard Doyle of Santa Ana. He plays the recurring character Walter Gaines, the Boston blueblood who became bartender Woody’s father-in-law. . . . “I loved the show,” Doyle says, “and I’m going to miss it.” He is currently in rehearsal for “Shadowlands,” which opens next month at SCR.
