Delta Pilots Reject Latest Offer: Delta Air Lines’ pilots union said it will reject the carrier’s latest contract-concession offer, even though it is tied to a 50% reduction in the planned layoffs of 600 pilots. An official at Delta’s Air Line Pilots Assn. group, which represents the carrier’s 9,300 pilots, said Delta’s offer was a “guns-for-hostages situation” and that using pilots as “trade bait is unconscionable.” The two sides were meeting Friday. The day before, Atlanta-based Delta said it would cut in half the number of pilots it would “temporarily” fire this summer if it reaches a contract-concession accord with pilots.
