BELL : Bramble to Quit Post for Colorado Job

Share

Chief Administrative Officer John Bramble will leave his post at the end of May to become head administrator for Adams County, Colo.

Bramble, who will earn $10,200 a year less in his new job, said he is making the move for new opportunities. With a $117-million budget, 800 staff members and 265,000 residents, Adams County is substantially larger than Bell, which has a $12-million budget, 92 workers and a population of 34,000. Adams County is northeast of Denver.

“This has given me an opportunity to take a step in my career that would not have otherwise been available,” said Bramble, 46. “I’ve always been curious about county government and the management system they use.”

Bramble, who earns $85,200 annually, will make $75,000 in his new job. He was recruited for the post by the three-member Adams County Commission, he said. Bramble was city manager for Commerce City, one of 10 cities in Adams County, from 1981 to 1984. He served as city manager of Pueblo, Colo., before coming to Bell in 1988.

Bell council members said they are sad to see him leave, crediting him with being instrumental in redeveloping the city’s downtown area, including the Bell Palm Plaza, and in securing federal funds for senior citizens’ housing.

“We would love to keep him. We hate to see him go,” Councilman George Cole said.

The city is seeking candidates to fill in for Bramble until a permanent successor is found. He leaves May 24.
