Engineering Awards: Sure, infrastructure work doesn’t create the same excitement that skyscrapers do.
But three Orange County engineering firms on Tuesday won national awards for their behind-the-scenes work on state-of-the-art public works projects.
The American Consulting Engineers Council, an industry group in Washington, honored Robert Bein, William Frost & Associates in Irvine for a computer-generated animated video showing what the Santa Ana Freeway/Grand Avenue interchange will look like.
Another firm, CH 2 M Hill in Santa Ana, won an award for a new engineering process to remove viruses from waste water in Riverside. And Psomas & Associates in Costa Mesa was recognized for a new surveying technology that improves safety.
