Workers’ Comp Reform

I read more of the same with The Times’ editorial regarding workers’ compensation reform at last. On the very day this appeared (April 27), I was informed by my comp carrier that my rate is being increased by over 10% this year and since I’m a small business that generates less than $5,000 yearly premiums, I will have a 25% surcharge. Just for the record, I have had no claims.
This state, of which I am a native, is going down the tubes fast, as the other 49 continue to lure businesses away with only the simple promise of fair treatment.
When the Legislature finally realizes that the words Democrat and Republican should be replaced by the statement “we have created and now must end a problem,” and if it’s not too late, we might have a chance.
