ORANGE COUNTY LETTERS : A Blue Ribbon for a Silver Ribbon Effort
We here in Orange County, through Jeanne Liechty, founding president of UCI’s Brain Imaging Center, have come up with the silver ribbon for those of us (who probably now have silver hair) with a mentally ill relative or friend.
The Decade of the Brain, declared by President Bush, is now also a project of Rotary International. Through education they hope to dispel the stigma of mental illness. A great effort on their parts--to reach so many through all their chapters by having the topic covered twice a year in their speakers programs.
Let’s hope other groups get the same idea.
