An enlisted man and woman stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station are under investigation for allegedly engaging in lewd acts during an after-hours party at the base, Navy officials said.

A Navy spokeswoman said the reported incident occurred about 10 p.m. during a party at a small hut next to an airplane hangar.

“Initial reports indicate that a male airman exposed himself and--in a public setting in the vicinity of the party--engaged in oral sex with a female airman,” said Senior Chief Petty Officer Pat Neal, a Navy spokeswoman.

The man is from Navy Fighter Squadron 213, which flies the F-14 Tomcats, while the woman belongs to Air Development Squadron 4, which tests and evaluates aircraft, Neal said.

Although both squadrons are stationed at Point Mugu, they are under the command of the Naval Air Force U.S. Pacific Fleet, which is headquartered at Naval Air Station, North Island, in San Diego County.

The incident at the party on base is alleged to have occurred on April 21--two days before the Pentagon released a report condemning more than 100 Navy and Marine Corps officers for lewd and indecent acts during the 1991 Tailhook convention in Las Vegas.

“The majority of Navy people accept and understand the Navy principles” on personal and professional behavior, Neal said. “Unfortunately, there are a few who continue to act inappropriately.”

She said the Point Mugu incident is being investigated by Navy lawyers from the office of the judge advocate general.
