The California Transportation Commission has allocated several million dollars for road improvement, ramp meters and electronic signs on San Gabriel Valley freeways.

Commissioners allotted $9.5 million to earthquake-strengthen freeway bridges at the interchange of the Pomona Freeway (60) and Long Beach Freeway (710) near Monterey Park. Construction will begin in June, 1995, Caltrans officials said.

Another $1.8 million was approved to pay for ramp meters on the Foothill Freeway (210) in Arcadia, Irwindale and Glendora. Many of the ramps will be widened to include a car-pool lane.
