Auerbach Checks Into Hospital
Red Auerbach, president of the Boston Celtics, underwent hospital tests Saturday, a day after suffering chest discomfort.
Celtic spokesman Jeff Twiss said Auerbach, 75, checked himself into Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday night, after the team’s end-of-season dinner. Auerbach drove himself to the hospital.
Meanwhile, 10 days after collapsing during a game, Celtic forward Reggie Lewis remains hospitalized at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is undergoing tests aimed at regulating a career-threatening heart problem.
The Boston Globe reported that Lewis was about to have a device implanted in his body to regulate the heart problem in an effort to keep him playing. A hospital spokeswoman rejected that report.
