WHAT ERIC NEEDS

Share

I’m a mom and a major hockey fan, and I could rewrite the Lindros piece. How’s this: This is the story of a strong, handsome, manic-depressive boy and the big, bad mother (and father) who made him what he is today--a spoiled, nasty jerk.

It appears to me that what’s needed here is to take the emphasis off the big neck, the speed bag, the millions and the crushing blows on the ice and put it on knocking some sense of reality into Eric’s big head. He could use less time with the physical therapist and considerably more with someone who could straighten out his psyche.

Sure, the fans are in love, his teammates are in awe and his opponents are in fear, but his mother is in total denial. Her baby boy has no wish, no intention and no capability to “skate into” anyone’s heart.
