VALLEY CHRONICLE: The eight Garcia sisters grew up as close as seedlings in the San Joaquin Valley ranchland where their farm worker father eked out a meager living. . . . After drifting apart as adults, they decided to reunite each year in a different city. . . . Thus was born the Groovy Girls, an outrageous, frequent-flier version of the Garcia sisters. . . . “We act ridiculous, the same way a bunch of men would in the situation. We turn into Neanderthals,” says Elfrida Villalobos of Sherman Oaks. . . . They’ve been to Taos, N. M., Ensenada, Mexico, New Orleans, and this year, Nashville, Tenn., is bracing for their arrival (B5).
