Century Southwest Cable will air tonight’s debate between Los Angeles mayoral candidates Richard Riordan and Michael Woo at midnight on Channel 10. No live media coverage was planned as of midday Monday.

Century Southwest, which serves about 165,000 households in portions of the Westside, San Fernando Valley and Eagle Rock, will air replays at 3 and 11 p.m. Wednesday on Channel 41; 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday on Channel 41; 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday on Channel 10, and 1 p.m. Sunday on Channel 10.

A replay of the debate will also be aired on C-SPAN, cable television’s nationwide public-affairs network, but a day and time has not been set.

Century plans further replays the weekend prior to the June 8 election and will distribute the tape to the six other cable companies serving Los Angeles to air on those systems.

Bill Rosendahl, a Century senior vice president who hosts several of the system’s public-affairs programs, will moderate the debate, which will begin at 8 p.m. at Stephen S. Wise Temple in West Los Angeles. The two candidates will each give opening statements, then respond to questions from Rosendahl, each other and the audience. The debate is co-sponsored by Century Southwest Cable and the Federation of Hillside and Canyon Associations Inc.

The debate is being shown on a delayed basis because Century does not have the capability of distributing live programming away from its Santa Monica studios.

Tonight’s debate is the first of six that are planned between Riordan and Woo. Broadcast arrangements have been set for three others: May 26 on KABC-AM (790); June 5 on KTTV-TV Channel 11 and June 6 on KCOP-TV Channel 13.
