MAI Systems Subsidiaries File for Bankruptcy: Brooke Acquisition Corp. and CLS Software Inc., two subsidiaries of MAI Systems Corp. in Irvine, have filed for reorganization in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del. MAI, which is controlled by New York financier Bennett S. LeBow, entered bankruptcy proceedings on April 12, also in Delaware, where the company is incorporated. The two subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 protection late last week. MAI, a computer manufacturer, sought court protection after trying unsuccessfully to recast itself as a software publisher and computer maintenance concern.
