BURBANK : Applicants Sought for City Committees

A number of positions on Burbank city boards, committees and commissions are expiring June 1. The City Council is scheduled to fill the unpaid posts May 18.

“They all require a good amount of dedication and personal time,” City Clerk Margaret Lauerman said.

Applications for the positions will be accepted at the city clerk’s office through today. Three openings for four-year terms are on each of the following boards: planning, park and recreation; library trustees; Police Commission; Public Service Department advisory board; building and fire code appeals; transportation, and the Landlord-Tenant Committee.

Ten positions for one-year terms on the Civic Pride Committee and two openings for two-year terms on the Traffic and Transportation Committee are also open.

The two-year Burbank Airport Authority terms for the three Burbank representatives are also expiring, and the city will name a new Metropolitan Water District director.

A vacant position expiring in two years is also open on the public service advisory board, and five members for the newly created Youth Endowment Services Fund Advisory Committee are to be named.

All city committees and boards report to the City Council.

To qualify for an appointment, a person must be a Burbank resident and registered voter. For the building and fire codes appeal board, an applicant has to have experience and training in the field, Lauerman said.
