LOS ANGELES : Gunman Kills Wife, Her Mother, Then Himself
A gunman shot his estranged wife and her mother to death at a home in the Hyde Park area on Mother’s Day before committing suicide, police said Monday.
According to witnesses, Yvonne Thomas West, 23, had left her husband, Rubin West, 23, about three weeks ago and moved into the home of her mother, Ida Lewis, 58, in the 6100 block of Hass Avenue, detectives said.
Rubin West went to the home Sunday evening and began arguing with his wife, Los Angeles Police Detective John Nichol said. He said that witnesses saw West chase his wife out of the house and shoot her three times before shooting his mother-in-law when she attempted to intercede. West then turned the gun on himself, police said.
