CAMARILLO : Ventura Man Arrested in Bank Robbery
A Ventura man was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery Tuesday afternoon after he was found with several hundred dollars that had been stolen from a Camarillo bank moments before, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
The incident began when a man showed a demand note to a teller at the Ventura County National Bank on Las Posas Road about 1:30 p.m. and made off with several hundred dollars in cash, Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Markley said.
A delivery-truck driver who saw a man fleeing the bank alerted authorities, and sheriff’s deputies caught Robert L. Dawson as he was speeding down Carmen Drive in Camarillo, Markleysaid.
Dawson, 38, was arrested when the deputies found the stolen money in his truck, Markley said, adding that no weapon was recovered.
The Sheriff’s Department will turn the case over to the FBI, Markley said.
