News Corp. Profit Soars: News Corp. more than doubled its profit in its fiscal third quarter and attributed the gain to improved results in its print media and television operations. The Sydney, Australia-based media conglomerate earned $129.6 million in the three months ended March 31, or 62 cents per American depository receipt, compared to $59.4 million, or 32 cents per ADR, in the comparable period of 1992. Revenue for the quarter fell slightly, to $1.81 billion. Its U.S. holdings include Fox television network, 20th Century Fox film studios and the Boston Herald newspaper.
