$10 Helmet Fine

Thank you for publishing and recognizing the $10 fine for helmet violations (Metro, April 30). Hooray for a little piece of justice! Although The Times appears to favor the mandatory helmet law, I respect that it will publish various sides of the issue. The public ought to be reminded that this law is a flagrant violation of individual rights, a slap in the face of America and all who have fought and died for freedom. This issue is no less passionate for motorcyclists than voting rights and freedom of choice for women, slavery and discrimination for blacks. People, do not be lulled into giving up your freedom so easily, we all have the right (and responsibility) to choose and support each other’s right to choose. This is the American way. Motorcyclists are on the front lines now, many of them have been there for you, will you be there for them?
