Although guard Sedale Threatt said he wants to remain with the Lakers and won’t exercise an option to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, Threatt’s agent, John Langel, said Threatt might still exercise that option.

Threatt’s contract runs through the 1995-96 season. The option was inserted when he signed with the Lakers because the team had little room under its salary cap and he signed for less than his probable market value. The only way he could increase his salary would be to become an unrestricted free agent and negotiate a new deal. He might also finish his current contract if the Lakers indicate they don’t want to renegotiate.
