Has Prop. 13 Been Rescinded?
Has Proposition 13 been rescinded? I know it has not, but it would appear so. First, government wants to assess us a large sum for fire protection; now Port Hueneme wants to assess its property owners up to $51.49 yearly for park maintenance.
It would be more fair for longtime homeowners, who bought at very little money compared to what the property is worth now, to pay a higher tax.
And those who rent out these properties should also be the ones paying higher taxes. Why shouldn’t renters bear some of the burden when they get the advantages?
