A 21-year-old Sylmar man was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound after he was shot Friday at a Taco Bell in Granada Hills, the third drive-by shooting at a fast-food restaurant in the San Fernando Valley in nine days, authorities said.

The shooting at the Taco Bell in the 11100 block of Woodley Avenue about 11:15 a.m. came on the heels of a gang-related drive-by at another Taco Bell in Northridge on Tuesday in which a 16-year-old boy was killed.

Last week, a 24-year-old man was shot six times and a 9-year-old was shot in the foot during a drive-by shooting at a McDonald’s in Pacoima. No arrests have been made in any of the incidents.

Los Angeles police said the latest victim, Raul Benitez, was shot in the lower back Friday when rival gang members drove by the Taco Bell and fired out of a vehicle. Benitez was taken to a hospital, possibly by fellow gang members, before police arrived at the scene of the shooting, they said.

Investigators are skeptical that the Taco Bell shootings are related but are not ruling out the possibility, said Detective Tom Broad. The McDonald’s incident is probably not connected to the Taco Bell shootings because it was too far away, he said.

Tuesday’s shooting in Northridge may have been a conflict between Asian and Latino gangs, Broad said. The victim, a 16-year-old Salvadoran who lived in Panorama City, was allegedly a member of a Latino gang, and police are seeking an Asian man who fled in a 1980s blue Honda.
