Laura Davies turned back repeated challenges and her two-over-par 73 in swirling winds at Wilmington, Del., gave her a one-stroke lead after three rounds of the LPGA McDonald’s Championship.
Davies had a 54-hole total of 208, a stroke better than Gail Graham, her co-leader after 36 holes, 19-year-old Akiki Fukishima and Lauri Merten, who lives near the DuPont Country Club.
Fukishima shot a 68 and Merten a 72 on the 6,389-yard course, which was made tougher by afternoon winds.
